The Royal Pavilion, Brighton’s showpiece palace, can now be explored in ways not normally seen by the general visitor. Participants in the Pavilion’s new guided tours Basement to Bottle pass through disguised doorways, climb secret staircases, and visit hidden rooms. The tours, which were put together by popular demand, leave no stone unturned, ending up high above the eccentric roofscape inside the ‘Bottle’ – the main onion dome - with one the most exclusive views of Brighton.

Life in Death: The Victorian Art of Taxidermy puts the practice into its context enabling visitors to enjoy its appeal in the light of the Victorians’ way of life. The centrepiece of the exhibition takes the visitor through a Victorian parlour, stuffed with the gewgaws typical of the era - from the horse’s hoof inkwell and the elephant’s foot umbrella stand to an original display of jewel-coloured birds in flight.

Human Resources presents 50 portraits by Russell Webb of front-line staff from the Royal Pavilion and Brighton Museum. In these pictures, the absence of clues such as uniform or environment reveals that a person’s face alone tells little of their work, interests or background. Among the security and information officers, cashiers, cleaners and technicians whose portraits are on show there are parents, carers, writers, engineers, travellers, teachers, musicians, collectors, gardeners, artists and scientists

Away from its grand architecture and seaside crowds, Brighton's working population often lived in appalling poverty. Lives Less Photographed reveals some rare images of local working class life: the people, and the lost areas of Brighton in which they lived.

The photographs in Brighton’s Forgotten Architecture document buildings around Brighton & Hove and its environs. Some are forgotten, some overlooked, whilst others dim in our memories. A Play in Time by Susan Trangmar 20 September to 16 November 2008 (7/8/2008)
A Play in Time by Susan Trangmar is an intimate study of St Ann's Well Gardens, Hove. Furoshiki are decorative textiles used in Japan, as well as other cultures, for wrapping and carrying both everyday objects and special ceremonial gifts. This new display at Brighton Museum demonstrates the range of styles and uses of furoshiki over four centuries, brought up-to-date with cloths made from recycled plastic bottles.
