Brighton History Centre's collection of ephemera reflects our city's lively cultural heritage and history. They are are a useful means of exploring themes such as wartime, entertainment and politics in a local context.

Items of particular interest include:

  • A set of scrapbooks featuring a military hospital during World War One
  • Cinema, theatre, dance hall and nightclub programmes from the 1900s onwards
  • Memorabilia celebrating significant national and local events such as coronations, jubilees, the 1951 Festival of Britain, and Brighton carnivals.
  • Posters for Brighton elections and political rallies
  • Bus, tram and train tickets and timetables
